Parenting Done Right : Do Not Let Depression Win

As a well known proverb says, "Morning shows the day", whatever you pour on your little one during their childhood, will become parts of his or her mental and physical growth in future. They are the blooming buds. They will choose to act accordingly in their adulthood as they have had perceived in their childhood. So its important to be responsible and sensible parents. As parents ofcourse we wish the best for our kids but sometimes unknowingly we lack the means of providing so.

Today's youth fail to control their unchecked emotions often in conflicting situations and out of depression push the life to an end. This is not desirable and acceptable at any cost. They need to understand that life is bigger and beautiful than anything else. Here are some of my observations, (which itself is a continuous process and will continue to be so), perceived as a daughter and as well as a mother.

1️⃣Healthy sleeping and eating habits: Encourage proper sleeping habits and healthy diet. This will definitely help them to lead a healthy life in future.

2️⃣Yoga, Physical exercise, Outdoor games: Make them practice meditation, yoga, deep breathing, physical exercise regularly. Encourage them for outdoor games and let them connect with mother nature. They will feel energised, fit and confident both mentally and physically.

3️⃣Flexible but structured daily routine: Help them to set a flexible but structured daily routine which will help to keep pace with daily life and to become organised.

4️⃣Set smaller one or two attainable goals at a time: Guide them to set one or two smaller but attainable goals at a time and not an untouched, uncontrolled, highly burdened, high-on-expectations to-do list.

5️⃣Encourage extra curricular activities of their own choice: Encourage for extra curricular activities of their own choice, which are relaxing and energizing. That could be playing an instrument, painting, singing, dancing anything. But do not burden them with your unfulfilled dreams as extra curricular activities.

6️⃣Appreciate little effort and discourage unhealthy competition: Appreciate their little efforts and make them feel valued. Never be too harsh in any way. Encourage to do better but never push them to any kind of unhealthy and unnecessary competition.

7️⃣Involve them in social activities: Make sure to involve them in social activities. Family gatherings, outings, outdoor games, school programs are good options. In such way they will grow their kind, sharing, helping attitudes towards others.

8️⃣Refrain from making fun of others: Refrain them from making fun of anybody for anything. Everyone is beautiful and worthy in his/her own way. Eventually they will learn to value other relationships and learn to be sympathetic as well.

9️⃣Happiness is an inner peace: Teach them to be open minded and loving towards ownself. Happiness is an inner peace and not depends on any external staffs. Listen to them. Talk to them. Spend quality time with them.

🔟Both success and failure are important: Teach them that some days will be difficult but some days will be great too. Let them experience both success and failure. Both are important in life. Encourage them to explore new things and to look forward to tomorrow’s fresh start.

1️⃣1️⃣Act of letting go and moving on: Teach them the action of letting go and moving on. Nothing is permanent. Teach them to accept life as it comes and grow with it. This will help them to do better in conflicting situations in future.

1️⃣2️⃣Music helps to be calm, composed, focused: Encourage them in activities related to music. It helps to be calm, composed, focused and to concentrate in life in a positive way. It also helps to strengthen positive emotions of life.

Let the world be a beautiful place to live. Let there be light and hope for all. God bless us.
